I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I am also completing an M.S. in Statistics this year. I earned a B.A. in Chinese and a minor in economics from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul), an M.A. in China Area Studies from Seoul National University, and an M.A. in Political Science from George Washington University.
I am currently completing a dissertation on the influence of alliances and power metrics on the frequency and outcomes of maritime territorial disputes. My research interests include alliances, naval power, low-level maritime disputes, East Asian maritime disputes, the law of the sea, China and the Korean Peninsula. My primary research interest focuses on interstate conflicts over maritime territory.
