What Tau Beta Pi Has to Offer

Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to mark in a fitting manner those who have conferred honor upon their Alma Mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges.

Networking

District Conferences bring together students from other chapters and interested alumni. Attending the annual Convention is an opportunity for members to have a say in how Tau Beta Pi operates, and meet members and alumni from chapters across the country.

Scholarships

Awards of $2,000 or $1,000 are given to Tau Beta Pi members for full-time engineering study in their senior year. Tau Beta Pi awards at least 200 scholarships each year, thanks to the generosity of our alumni.

Community and Campus Service Opportunities

Promote engineering in the community by sponsoring K-12 competitions and providing simple K-12 classroom demonstrations of engineering principles as part of MindSET, Tau Beta Pi's National K-12 Math & Science Initiative.

Fellowships

Tau Beta Pi awards at least 25 fellowships, all of whom receive $10,000 cash award for one year of graduate study. The program has awarded more than $6,239,000 to 82 groups of fellows.
